This software is a simple demonstration application written in .Net VB that is supplied free with the AmmSensor™. It connects with the AmmSensor™ via the Bluetooth serial port, gathers data from each channel of each sensor and displays these values in real-time on the screen. There are three accelerometer, gyro and magnetometer channels plus temperature and count. The source code is included so that the developer or experimenter can use it as a basis for further development.
Initially the sensor is connected via the computer’s Bluetooth device. Once the sensor is connected and the program is opened, the screen will appear similar to the diagram above. Next the Com Port is selected and the Open Port button is pressed. At this point the Sensor Values fields will be filled with raw values from each sensor.
- Ax, Ay, Az are the raw accelerometer values
- Mx, My, Mz are the raw magnetometer values
- Gx, Gy, Gz are the raw gyro values
- Count is the current sample number
- Temperature is the raw value representing the internal temperature of the unit
Binary or ASCII output can be chose; but binary is the default and is the fastest. If the Start Capture to File button is pressed then the data will be save to a comma delimited data file that can be easily read into a spread sheet program such as Excel. This allows unlimited experimentation and data review. This program is an excellent starting point for the developer or experimenter to build their own applications.
